چکیده

Brassica species are playing an even more important role in global agriculture and horticulture. To understand the regulation and evolution of Brassica species, the Multinational Brassica Genome Project (MBGP) was initiated and various techniques have been developed to characterize the behaviour of the underlying genes, genomic regulatory networks and associated metabolism. By using cDNA library screening and Rapid Amplification of cDNA Ends (RACE), many functional genes related to metabolism have been identified. cDNA microarrays were applied to determine gene expression profiles. Molecular markers were used in marker-assisted selection and breeding, and transformation technology was applied to the introduction of desirable traits. Moreover, quantitative trait loci (QTL) have been identified for a wide range of morphological, physiological and crop traits in the different Brassica crop types. Many systems and technologies have also been applied to study self-incompatibility and Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) in Brassica species. With the development of molecular biology, more and more knowledge at the level of gene expression, biochemistry, metabolism and physiology has been gained in Brassica species. Furthermore, as one of the most commonly grown and widely adapted crops Brassica species have been used as vegetables. We present a techniques review on cellular, biochemical and genetic events in Brassica species. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

ارزیابی روابط ژنتیکی بین 36 ژنوتیپ از گونه های کلزا (Brassica sp.) با استفاده از نشانگر مولکولی ISSR

Study of genetic relationships is a prerequisite for plant breeding activities as well as for conservation of genetic resources. Since the hybrid canola have more yield than inbred lines, determine the genetic diversity of this have particular importance. In the present study, genetic diversity among 36 genotype of Brassica sp. were determined using inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers...

Physiological traits related to drought tolerance in Brassica

Physiological basis of genetic variability in drought response and its association with yieldand related indices is not clear in Brassica. In this study 36 accessions belonged to sevenspecies of Brassica were evaluated under normal, moderate and severe stress environments.Physiological traits along with seed yield, seed yield components, oil content and two selectionindices (stress tolerance in...

Isolated microspore culture of Brassica: An experimental tool for developmental studies and crop improvement

The technique of isolated microspore culture for the production of haploid plants is well standardized for many species of Brassica, some of which are important oilseed or vegetable crops. It offers an excellent experimental system for improvement of Brassica crops and study of cell differentiation during shift from gametophytic to sporophytic development. The haploids raised from microspores a...

Invited Review: Brassica Biotechnology: Progress in Cellular and Molecular Biology

Considerable progress has been accomplished in the cellular and molecular biology of Brassica species in the past few years. Plant regeneration has been increasingly optimized via organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis using various explants; with tissue culture improvements focusing on factors such as age of the explant, genotype, and media additives. The production of haploids and doubled ha...

Diversity of Variable Number Tandem Repeat Loci in Shigella Species Isolated From Pediatric Patients

Multilocus variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) analysis (MLVA) is a new typing method with several advantages compared to other methods. Dissemination of Shigella is highly significant in developing countries. Whilst Shigella is becoming increasingly important as an etiologic agent of pediatric shigellosis in Iran, little is known about the genetic diversity of the local strains. Therefore, th...
